Thomas McCarthy
Irish-born hyperbaric welder and saturation diver with three decades of life-supporting offshore operations across the North Sea, West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico, and beyond.
Thomas McCarthy was born in the west of Ireland and grew up on a coastline where the Atlantic shapes every season. He came up through commercial diving the hard way — long shifts on small boats, then larger projects, then bell runs, then saturation. Over thirty years he has welded pipelines at depth, cut and rebuilt platform legs, and lived for weeks at a time inside pressurised steel. He has trained crews, mentored young divers, and survived events that demanded everything he had. This site is the long version of a life lived offshore.
